Nigeria loses 3 police officers, suspects in Ondo car crash


Three police officers have been lost in a fatal road crash along the Benin-Ore-Ijebu Ode Expressway in Ore, Ondo State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred around the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

A report by Punch said the officers died alongside some suspects and who were in the custody of the police.

The deceased officers were part of the monitoring team who left Akure to arrest the suspects when the unfortunate incident occurred.

According to eyewitnesses, a truck travelling kn the same road had lost control wheile descending the ore bridge ramming into the vehicle occupied by the late officers and the suspects.

“The deceased policemen and a female suspect died on the spot while the other police officer who was seriously injured had been rushed to an undisclosed hospital. They left Akure to arrest the suspect at Ore Area,” a source said.

Confirming the report, the spokesperson for the Ondo Police command, Funmilayo Odunlami said, “The incident happened, that is what I can say for now.”
