I’m spiritually prepared for this role—John Jinapor on his appointment

Energy Minister nominee John Abdulai Jinapor has disclosed his preparedness for the ministerial position.

However, he acknowledges that he needs support from industry experts and all other stakeholders.

“Psychologically, physically, and emotionally, I am prepared, and even spiritually, I’m prepared. I can’t say I will do it alone; I will need support from the industry experts and stakeholders,” he told Asempa FM

John Abdulai Jinapor was announced as the nominee for the energy minister by John Dramani Mahama.

He is among the first set of appointees announced by the President of Ghana after his investiture on January 7, 2025.

John Jinapor acknowledged that there are challenges with the Energy Ministry but assured the people of Ghana that the NDC is determined to address the challenges.

“We are determined; we will do everything. There will be some tough decisions; for instance, whether you like it or not, we have to reform ECG in a transparent manner through a competitive process to get the best to manage the concession. There are no alternatives because if we do not take care, the energy sector will collapse the economy of the country. There will be some tough decisions; initially, they will be unpleasant but in the medium term it will help the whole country,” he explained to OB on Asempa FM.
