Black Galaxies coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani has made three changes to his starting line-up against Nigeria in the decisive African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier in Uyo on Saturday December 28, 2024.
Nurudeen Abdulai, Fatawu Sulemana and Jerry Afriyie have replaced Samuel Afful, Hafiz Ibrahim and Stephen Amankona for today’s epic clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Kick off 16:00 GMT (4pm local time).
Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare remains in post while the central defensive pair of Razak Simpson and Ebenezer Abban make the squad.
Kamaradini Mamudu, Manuel Mantey and captain Yakubu Issah have been named in the starting line-up while youngster Jerry Afriyie and Albert Amoah will offer an attacking threat.
The tie, finely balanced after a goalless first leg in Accra, sees the Galaxies hold on to hope and assert their confidence in serving out a telling performance.
The Mas-Ud Didi Dramani-led side will draw inspiration from their recent history against Nigeria in CHAN qualifiers. Just two years ago, Ghana defeated the Super Eagles in dramatic fashion, prevailing 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 aggregate scoreline. That victory in Abuja, sealed under intense pressure, was a testament to how the Black Galaxies can rise to important occasions.
Ghana need a scoring draw or a win to go through and secure qualification to the 2024 CHAN tournament to be co-hosted by Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya in 2025.
