“Idiocy by nincompoops” – IPOB reacts to Biafra declaration by Simon Ekpa’s followers

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has criticized the recent declaration of a “second Biafra independence” by Simon Ekpa’s faction in Finland.

Emma Powerful, IPOB’s spokesperson, dismissed the event as “idiocy exhibited by a group of nincompoops,” describing it as a scam intended to undermine the legitimate Biafran struggle.

In a statement, IPOB distanced itself from the Finland declaration, emphasizing that only the 1967 Biafra proclamation by the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu holds legitimacy.

“The so-called declaration is a scam. There is no room for another Biafra declaration besides the one our eternal leader, Dim Odimegwu Ojukwu, declared in 1967,” the statement read.

IPOB accused the organizers of being infiltrators and provocateurs working to destabilize the Southeast region and distract from the group’s peaceful advocacy for self-determination.

“This shambolic declaration…was ignored by responsible media organizations. The infiltrators involved are criminals, uninformed, and fake agents,” Powerful stated.

IPOB reaffirmed its commitment to a United Nations-supervised referendum to allow Biafrans to decide their political future.

It warned against actions that exploit the sacrifices made by those who lost their lives in the original struggle.

“The blood of the fallen heroes of Biafra will chase and hunt down those involved in this mockery,” IPOB declared.

The group reiterated its loyalty to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s leadership, urging supporters and the international community to disregard the Finland declaration.

IPOB described the event as a publicity stunt orchestrated by those aiming to discredit their cause.
