The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive and a suspect in four high-profile corruption investigations.
These cases involve major financial transactions and procurement deals, raising concerns about accountability in public service.
Find below the list of cases as listed by OSP:
- National Cathedral Procurement Scandal
Ofori-Atta is under investigation for alleged procurement irregularities related to the controversial National Cathedral project. The project, which has faced intense public scrutiny over funding transparency, is being examined for possible financial mismanagement and procurement breaches. - Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) Contract
The OSP is probing a contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML). The deal, reportedly worth billions, was signed under Ofori-Atta’s tenure and has raised concerns about its legitimacy and financial implications for the state. - ECG and Beijing Jao Loss Reduction Contract
Another case under investigation involves a contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Beijing Jao, which aimed at reducing system losses. The OSP is assessing whether due process was followed and whether the contract led to financial losses for the country. - Health Ministry’s Ambulance Procurement Deal
The Special Prosecutor is also scrutinising contracts awarded by the Ministry of Health to Service Ghana Auto Limited for the procurement of ambulances. The investigation seeks to determine if procurement regulations were breached and whether funds were mismanaged.
According to the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, despite multiple invitations for questioning, Ofori-Atta has refused to cooperate with the OSP.
Agyebeng insists that the former finance minister must return to Ghana to face questioning, warning that failure to do so will result in measures being taken to compel his return.
