A disgrace to the nation – Legal expert slams Special Prosecutor’s actions

Renowned legal expert Dr. Kwaku Ansah Asare has condemned Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng’s approach in declaring a former Finance Minister as wanted, describing it as a “theatrical show” that lacks professionalism.

During an interview on TV3, Dr. Ansah Asare challenged the legality and necessity of such a declaration, questioning whether proper procedures had been followed.

“We know where the former Finance Minister is. You should invite him civilly and go about it in a more civilized manner, rather than turning it into a media spectacle,” he stated.

He warned against the politicization of the Special Prosecutor’s office, accusing Agyebeng of being used by the current government to target officials of the previous administration.

“This kind of theatrical show should be left in the past. If I had my way, the Special Prosecutor should be arrested. We have laws in this country, and we must be fair in how we enforce them,” he stressed.

Dr. Ansah Asare also questioned Agyebeng’s track record, arguing that he had ignored other pressing corruption cases while choosing to make a public spectacle out of this one.

“Where was he when millions were reportedly lost in the National Cathedral scandal? When former ministers allegedly stole state resources? He did nothing. But now, this? It’s pure hypocrisy,” he declared.

Urging for accountability, Dr. Ansah Asare stated: “He should resign and allow a more competent person to do the job. Ghana deserves better.”
