NPP will lose in 2028 if the internal fights don’t end

Member of Parliament for Bimbila, Dominic Nitiwul, is of the firm view that the New Patriotic Party will lose the 2028 elections if they continue to fight internally.

He believes the political party has been opportune to clean their house and make things right before the 2028 elections.

However, failure to do that will mean staying in opposition for a very long time.

“We’ve been given an opportunity to go out there and explain to our people, but if we start fighting among ourselves that I want to be an MP, I want to be president, and we start fighting among ourselves, we are going to have the same results,” he said.

He continued, “All that helped the NDC was that Mahama was one candidate. From 2016 to 2024, all the other people who contested him were just dress rehearsals for another election. So they were united behind John Mahama and no one could come and allege corruption, state capture and others against them.”.

To Nitiwul, the NPP was lucky that their members did not come out to vote just because they did not like the NDC or candidate Mahama

“The apathy was caused by multiple reasons maybe primaries, official behaviours, MP primary, internal primary. There are several factors that caused the apathy. I feel that we should be thankful as a party to our supporters that they refused to go and vote for NDC. It may be that they don’t like NDC or candidate Mahama and that is good for us. However, it is worrying that one month after the election, people are talking and making suggestions as to who should become the flagbearer of the political party.

We should tone down if we really want to win. Big party people are talking and want to blame people. You see people writing plenty when we have to do these things internally. Remember that whatever you say, in 2028 they will use it against you,” he told Asempa FM in Acra.
