The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee has identified 36 high-profile cases with the potential to recover a staggering $20.49 billion in misappropriated public funds, according to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Speaking on Monday, February 10, 2025, during the submission of ORAL’s final report to President John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Ablakwa disclosed that the committee had received 2,417 complaints from individuals and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
These included 1,493 toll-free calls and 924 emails, all carefully recorded and preserved for verification.
“The data suggests that with just 36 carefully investigated cases, Ghana can potentially recover $20.49 billion in stolen or misused state resources,” Ablakwa revealed.
President Mahama, after receiving the report, passed it on to the Attorney General for further legal action, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring accountability.
The government is now expected to take decisive steps to prosecute individuals implicated in the report while working to retrieve the lost funds to support national development efforts.
