Sam George demands CCTV footage over insult on Zanetor Rawlings

Ningo-Prampram MP, Samuel Nartey George, has called for accountability in Parliament following an incident where Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings was referred to as the “daughter of a murderer” during a heated session.

He insists that Parliament must set a precedent by investigating the matter thoroughly and holding the culprit responsible.

“This is very easy to do if we are committed. I think Parliament must do this, and we must set an example,” he stated, emphasizing the need for decisive action.

According to him, retrieving CCTV footage from the chamber should not be a challenge and would help identify the person responsible.

“The Marshals department must produce the CCTV footage of the chamber. It would allow us to see because nobody could have made those comments without some kind of gesticulation,” he argued.

During a tense parliamentary session on February 4, 2025, an unnamed MP from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) allegedly referred to Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as the “daughter of a murderer.”

The comment came amid heated debates surrounding the 60th anniversary of Dr. J.B. Danquah’s passing. The controversy began when Tamale Central MP Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed criticized Danquah, calling him a “traitor and a CIA agent.”

In response, chaos erupted in the chamber, and amidst the exchanges, a voice from the NPP side was heard shouting, “Murderers! Children of murderers!” before directly targeting Dr. Zanetor with, “Daughter of a murderer, sit down!”
