Unemployment in health sector must be addressed by thinking outside the box

Health Minister-designate Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has explained that the high unemployment rate in the country’s health sector is a result of the effects on the wage bill of the country.

He argues that it is a worrying feature of the country that needs to be looked at and addressed by thinking outside the box.

The Minister hopes to be in contact with other countries that will need the services of Ghanaian health professionals.

“The unemployment with regards to unemployment with regards to health professionals in this country is alarming. The issue has to do with the effect on the wage bill.

Therefore, there is a need for us to think outside the box. Mr Chairman, what I’m going to do is to probably link up with other countries so that we in the ministry will facilitate the migration of health professionals to other countries so that we create jobs for them,” he told Parliament’s Appointment Committee.
