Max TV Dominates Boxing Coverage, Bags 2024 Ghana Boxing TV Station Award

The 2024 Boxing Ghana Awards brought excitement and spectacle to the forefront, celebrating boxing in a truly memorable way. Max TV emerged as the top boxing TV station, selected from a strong lineup of nominees.
Boxing Ghana has cemented its position as a vital media voice, championing the sport’s rich heritage both locally and internationally. The awards recognize outstanding talent and impactful contributions that continue to drive the progress of boxing in Ghana.
This category featured prominent pro-boxing TV stations, including Omashi TV, Max TV, KA Sports, and GTV Sports Plus. An enthusiastic 782 fans and professionals participated in the online voting, reflecting their passion for the sport. Max TV led the competition with 479 votes, securing 61.3% of the total votes.
Max TV operates under Imax Media, a wholly Ghanaian-owned multimedia broadcasting company managing one television and two radio channels. Based in Accra, Max TV is a digital terrestrial free-to-air station that has consistently supported boxing by broadcasting live events. Over the past year, it aired more than 10 boxing matches, including the Bel 7 Star Ghana Professional Boxing League and the Ultimate Legacy Fights at Bukom Boxing Arena. Additionally, the channel runs Boxing Arena, a program dedicated to in-depth discussions about the sport.
Other notable competitors included GTV Sports Plus, a specialized sports channel under the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), which received 190 votes (24.3%). KA Sports garnered 98 votes (12.5%), while Omashi TV, known for its use of the Ga-Adangbe language, secured 82 votes (10.5%). These achievements highlight the immense efforts of Ghanaian TV stations in promoting boxing over the past year.
The Boxing Ghana Awards celebrated these accomplishments and encouraged companies and individuals to continue supporting the sport. Mr. Sammy Ofosuhene, CEO and Managing Chief Editor of Boxing Ghana, expressed appreciation for the voters’ participation and commended the achievements of Ghanaian boxers, emphasizing their significant contributions to the sport.
