The Edo State government, through its Vehicle Recovery Committee, has said it has recovered 30 government-owned vehicles from officials of the immediate past administration.
According to the Chairman of the Committee, Kelly Okungbowa, the committee has retrieved 30 vehicles so far.
The recovery effort is part of the state government’s efforts to recover all government assets taken away by officials of the past administration headed by Godwin Obaseki.
Okungbowa commended whistleblowers for providing critical information that facilitated the recoveries.
“We have recovered two Land Cruiser Jeeps and two Toyota Hilux vehicles from a former high-ranking official of the immediate past government,” Okungbowa said. “One of the vehicles contained campaign posters and umbrellas. Another Hilux vehicle was also recovered, bringing the total number of vehicles retrieved since our operation began to 30.”
On Friday, the committee recovered three vehicles: one Hilux van and two Toyota Hiace buses. According to the government, one of the buses was found to contain bags of rice meant for palliatives, which were reportedly intended for distribution to Edo residents.
Okungbowa assured Edo residents that more recoveries would be made before the two-week deadline set for the committee to complete its mandate.
