Nine princes from the royal families in Oyo kingdom have rejected the appointment of Prince Abimbola Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo by Governor Seyi Makinde.
The princes who are collectively refereed to as the Atiba 9 said the appointment of the new Alaafin is against their tradition and customs.
Accusing Governor Seyi Makinde of showing blatant disregard for the revered traditions of the Oyo kingdom, Atiba 9 said Makinde based his action of a mere proclamation of a United States of America-based Awise Agbaye, Professor Wande Abimbola.
In a statement issued by Prince Sina Afolabi of the Adeitan Royal family, the Atiba 9 also alleged that Abimbola claimed that Ifa chose Owoade as the next Alaafin of Oyo.
