Police Commission Gets New DIG in South South


Assistant Inspector General of Police Jonathan Towuru has been appointed as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police represent the South South region at the Police Service Commission.

Ikechukwu Ani, the spokesperson of at the commission said Towuru was appointed following the retirement of DIG Daniel Pedro.

Pedro retired as the DIG in charge of Information and Communications Technology and would be succeeded by Towuru who had served as the Assistant Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Enugu; Commissioner of Police, Western Port, Apapa, Lagos; AIG, Zone 6 Headquarters, Calabar among many other key positions.

According to Ani, Towuru was born in Ouwodo Kpokpo Olomu, Ughelli South LGA of Delta State on December 1965.

He said the new DIG for the South South region is expected to bring his wealth of experience in the Nigeria Police Force to improve the efforts of the PSC.

“As a member of the Police Management Team, you must be prepared to contribute significantly to advancing the ideals of the Nigeria Police Force,” Ani said.
