Aide to the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari has indicated she is aware the expectations of the people of Ghana are high but the NDC will deliver.
John Dramani Mahama, in a statement signed by Felix Ofosu Kwakye, announced his first appointment at the presidency ahead of his inauguration.
Speaking to Channel 1 Television on the sidelines of the ongoing inauguration, Joyce Bawa Mogtari indicated that the President-elect is aware of the expectations of the Ghanaian people and all these expectations will be met.
To her, the appointees announced by John Dramani Mahama indicate how well the president-elect is prepared to fix the country.
“I feel humbled, and I thank the good lord. I think that this is the day the lord has made and we are rejoicing in it. The expectations are very high and I am confident in my heart that expectations will be met,” she said.
“I think that this is one of the greatest decisions ever. You see that his legal advisor is the former Attorney General, we have our Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, we have our Executive Secretary of the President, Dr Calistus Mahama and the Acting Spokesperson. I’ve had a very long spell and I think that the president knows I also need a break sometimes. It is a fantastic choice, a fantastic team, I’ve no doubt in my mind that they will do well,” she said.
On whether she needed a break from governance entirely she said “you can’t always be on the first list. Look the beauty about the NDC is that there is just so many people, so much talent, a large pool. Think about it I’ve been spokesperson, special aide for almost ten years I think that others should also take the lead. Felix was actually a good supporter…
I’m filled with so much pride and even if I don’t take up a formal position, I will serve John Mahama and I think it is an honour to handover to such an amazing team,” she said.
