My daughter is innocent, ex-queen Naomi’s mother cries out

The mother of the estranged queen of the Ooni of Ife, has called for intervention into the case involving her daughter and the death of several children at the Christmas party in Ibadam.

Funmilayo Ogunseyi, said her daughter is innocent of any form of crime and only wanted to feed and care for the less privileged in the society.

In an emotional video shared on social media, Ogunseyi said her daughter Naomi Silekunola who is currently being remanded in a correctional facility is sick and fragile.

She said, “Have mercy on me. Mothers, have mercy. Come to my rescue. Don’t let my life be destroyed,” Ogunseyi said.

“My child only came to Ibadan to help the needy; this was not her first time. We have travelled across the country helping children and the vulnerable. I sympathise with the families who lost their children; it was never our intention. Please, don’t let Naomi be imprisoned—she is innocent. She only came to show compassion.”

“She is fragile and sick,” Ogunseyi lamented. “Naomi fainted at the station, and they still took her to court. I don’t know where else to turn to. They say her ordeal is an ‘order from above,” she said.
