Lawyer Beatrice Annan has revealed how the incumbent NPP has appointed some of its foot soldiers as judges.
During a panel discussion, Beatrice Annan, a member of the NDC Communications Team, criticized the NPP for undermining the judiciary by appointing party foot soldiers to judicial positions.
She specifically cited Justice Ernest Yao Gaewu, an NPP affiliate, who was appointed by the President as a Justice of the High Court, describing the act as inappropriate.
“Judicial power is not political power that you exercise for the benefit of your party. It is not a power to be used to reward your allies or favour personal interests. Judicial power comes from the people.
We entrust some individuals with this power, believing they will act objectively or at least reasonably so. We do not give it to party foot soldiers. Today, under the NPP, foot soldiers have become judges,” Beatrice Annan stated.
She also issued a stern warning to the NPP, affirming that the NDC will no longer tolerate such practices.
Beatrice Annan made it clear that the NDC will not allow anyone to manipulate the judiciary to intimidate or bully others.
