The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East, Hon. Samuel Aboagye is of the view that the Electoral Commission wants to jeopardise the peace in Ghana with the re-collation.
The Electoral Commission, per a court order, engaged in a re-collation of votes in some 7 constituencies.
Obuasi East was one of the constituencies that had their results re-collated by the electoral commission and declared in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Patrick Boakye-Yiadom garnered 18558 of the total votes cast and Samuel Aboagye of the NDC garnered 18539. Independent Candidate, Adjei Owusu Afriyie, also polled 424 votes.
Speaking in a video that has since gone viral, Hon. Samuel Aboagye said the EC is just working towards jeopardizing the peace Ghana enjoys.
He said “The EC is just trying to jeopardize the peace in Ghana and that is bad. I was not called by the commission about the re-collation neither was any of my assigns or team members. I am a stakeholder and I was not contacted by the EC throughout the process,” he said.
He used the opportunity to call on the people of Ghana and the people of Obuasi East to remain calm as he and the NDC in general ensure that the vile agenda of the New Patriotic Party is neutralized and made obsolete.
