Mahama visits neighboring presidents to strengthen Ghana’s relations


As part of strengthening Ghana’s international relations with other African countries in the year to come, president-elect John Dramani Mahama has started visiting leaders of some African countries.

From pictures from his social media, the president-elect has visited two African leaders since he started the journey of visiting neighboring presidents.

The first visit of the president-elect was to Togo.

In a post announcing his first visit, he said “As I prepare for my inauguration on January 7, 2025, I have started visiting our neighbouring countries.

In a meeting with Togo’s President Faure Gnassingbé, I reiterated why it is important to continue strengthening the bonds within our subregion. Working together, we can better impact the lives of our people, who are connected in many ways, including tribe, history, and economy”.

His next trip was to Benin, where he expressed the fact that he would want to strengthen Ghana’s relations with her neighbours.

His post read via social media “With my brother, President Patrice Talon of Benin, during a courtesy visit to him in Cotonou. I am committed to strengthening Ghana’s relations with all our West African neighbours,” he said.

Meanwhile, John Dramani Mahama will be sworn in as President on January 7, 2024.
