Stop holding press conferences and declare the results

Media personality Johnnie Hughes has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to refrain from holding unnecessary press conferences and to declare the election results without further delay.

During his show, Hughes criticized the EC, claiming that while the commission insists it is functioning, in reality, it is not.

“The EC will tell you they are functioning, but they are not. Can we no longer add 1+1 to make 2? I’m surprised because Jean Mensah was one of the women we looked up to at the IEA. She led the reforms that have shaped the elections we see today.

She was the one telling us that the players on the pitch were not playing well and needed guidance, but now that she’s on the field, she can’t even find the ball to kick,” Hughes remarked.

He urged the EC to get its house in order and remember that it serves the people of Ghana.

“It’s time for the EC to realize that it is here to serve the people of Ghana, and it must do so transparently and efficiently,” Hughes added.

He concluded by calling on the Electoral Commission to stop holding unnecessary press conferences and to declare the results in line with the provisions of CI127 and the will of the Ghanaian people, who stood in long lines, enduring the sun and dust, to cast their votes.
