The authorities of Ekumfi Fruits Juice Limited have expressed their appreciation to President-elect John Dramani Mahama for showcasing their products during his Thanksgiving service.
In their statement, they commended the President-elect for his kind and bold gesture in promoting Ekumfi Pineapple Juice. The Ekumfi Pineapple Processing Factory, the first of its kind to be established under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s ‘One District, One Factory’ initiative, has become a significant part of the region’s economic growth.
Speaking to the media, Kankam Biney, Chief Agronomist for Ekumfi Fruits Juice Limited, appealed to President-elect Mahama to continue supporting the Ekumfi Pineapple Processing Factory, noting the lack of major employment opportunities in the Ekumfi District.
He emphasized that the factory, which currently employs 700 workers, has been instrumental in creating jobs and reducing poverty in the district and its surrounding areas.
Mr. Biney also extended his gratitude to outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo for his support of the ‘One District, One Factory’ initiative, which has significantly boosted employment and the local economy.
“Ekumfi Pineapple Juice is eager to collaborate with the President-elect on his 24-hour economy policy,” Mr. Biney stated. “We believe that this policy will enable the company to increase production and meet the growing demand for our juice in the market.”
He further explained, “At present, we are operating well below capacity. Our goal is to produce between 7,000 and 9,000 acres of pineapples, but currently, we are only producing 1,500 acres. We are hopeful that the President-elect’s support will help us expand, allowing us to meet market demand and create even more jobs.”
According to Mr. Biney, the demand for Ekumfi Pineapple Juice is high, but limited production due to a shortage of raw materials has hindered their ability to supply the market adequately.
“People are constantly asking for more of our juice, but we simply do not have the capacity to produce enough,” he said. “With the support of the next NDC government and the implementation of new policies, we hope to increase our production and expand our workforce to up to 6,000 employees.”
Ekumfi Fruits Juice Limited looks forward to the opportunity to work with the President-elect’s administration to further develop the company, increase production, and contribute to the local economy.
