African male footballer of the year, Ademola Lookman, has asked young Africans to take a cue from his career trajectory.
He believes that they should never stay on the ground when they fall.
The Nigerian footballer recalled how he failed some four years ago while in England but did not let that define him.
He talked about his resilience in the struggling years and what he has been able to achieve just because he did not give up on himself.
“Just over 4 years ago, I failed in front of the world. Fast forward 4 years and I’m the best player in Africa. To the young children and people watching this, don’t let your failures weigh you down that they break your wings. Turn your pain into your power and continue to fly,” he said after receiving his award.
The 2024 CAF awards took place in Morocco on Monday, December 16, 2024.
