In a recent display of political solidarity and compassion, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), visited Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to offer his condolences following Bawumia’s defeat in the presidential race.
Accompanied by several NPP executives from the Ashanti Region, Wontumi’s gesture was both personal and political, highlighting the importance of unity within the party despite the setback.
During his visit, Wontumi drew from Biblical teachings to provide comfort to Bawumia, reassuring him that, although the loss was painful, there was a divine purpose behind every setback.
“In times like this, we must remember that setbacks are not the end but a step in a larger plan,” Wontumi shared, referencing Scripture to uplift the defeated candidate.
Acknowledging the hard work and dedication Bawumia brought to the campaign, Wontumi emphasized the significance of Bawumia’s decision to select Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, as his running mate.
“His Excellency, Dr. Bawumia, made a wise choice in choosing NAPO as his running mate,” Wontumi stated. “That decision was crucial for the Ashanti Region. We recognize the work you did for the party, and we are deeply grateful for it.”
Despite the party’s defeat in the elections, Chairman Wontumi expressed confidence in the NPP’s ability to recover.
He assured Bawumia that the party would remain strong and continue to advance its cause, acknowledging the resilience of the NPP’s supporters.
“This is not the end,” Wontumi said. “We will rise again. Your dedication will not go in vain.”
