Some associates of Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), are gearing up to celebrate his forthcoming birthday in River State.
The celebration, slated for Friday, is aimed at reaffirming Wike’s position as the indisputable political leader of Rivers State amidst the ongoing crisis.
Wike and his estranged political godson, Governor Siminalayi Fubara are at odds with each other.
The NEW Associates, a new political movement coined from Wike’s initials, is leading the preparations. Other groups, including Wikematic Youths, Wikematic Women, and Rivers Ijaw Progressive Congress (RIPCO), are also mobilizing for the event.
Wike’s associates, loyalists, and friends from within and outside the country are expected to attend the event.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the celebration will be kick-started with a public lecture titled “Pragmatic Strides of a Visionary Leader and Contemporary Issues of Society”. The lecture will be delivered by renowned academic Prof. Julius Ihonvbere.
The Senate President will attend as Special Guest of Honour, while former NBA President OCJ Okocha will also grace the occasion.
