President Bola Tinubu has officially welcomed German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja this morning.
Steinmeier, who arrived in Abuja on Tuesday evening, was greeted with full honours, including a Guard of Honour and the playing of the national anthems of both countries, before meeting with President Tinubu for closed-door discussions.
The German President is accompanied by a high-level business delegation from top German companies in IT, high-tech, and energy sectors.
During his visit, Steinmeier is expected to meet with President Tinubu and ECOWAS Commission President Dr. Alieu Touray.
He will also visit Lagos to engage with business leaders, explore Nigeria’s start-up hubs, and meet cultural icons such as Prof. Wole Soyinka and Dr. Nike Okundaye.
This visit marks the second German presidential trip to Nigeria in just over a year.
Following a series of successful engagements, including President Buhari’s agreements with German firms like Siemens, Nigeria and Germany continue to collaborate in energy, trade, and technology.
President Tinubu and President Steinmeier will brief the press after their talks.
