Tinubu’s Foreign Trips More Productive Than Those of Past Leaders – Shehu Sani

A former senator from Kaduna state, Shehu Sani, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s foreign trips, stating that they have been more productive than those of past leaders.

The lawmaker said Tinubu’s travels have attracted significant economic gains for Nigeria, a notable departure from the wasteful foreign trips of previous presidents.

Sani specifically highlighted the President’s visits to Saudi, Brazil, France, China, and South Africa, which have yielded verifiable and practical economic benefits for Nigeria. He expressed excitement over Brazil’s $4.2 billion grant to boost Nigeria’s agriculture, which will be shared among local governments.

“The history of Presidential foreign travels in this country has been infamously known to be wasteful. However, there is an evidently notable difference this time around,” Sani wrote on his X handle. “The President’s visit to Saudi, Brazil, France, China, and South Africa attracted verifiable and practical economic gains for Nigeria.”

“To travel and come back with something huge is ok; to travel and come back with nothing is not ok,” Sani added

Sani’s comments come as Nigeria’s foreign direct investment (FDI) increased by 248.1% ($103.82m) in Q3 2024, according to the latest economic statistics.
