The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has explained that reason the commission is yet to declare the results of the 2024 General Elections is that they are yet to receive results of elections at the National Collation Centre as of this morning ( Sunday December 8, 2024). The Commission explained, even though, results are been collated at the regional Collation Centres, none has been relayed to the national level, which will form the basis for the declaration of the winner of the elections.
The EC further explained that the processes leading to the declaration of the elections are enshrined in law and are being followed religiously.
” As of 8:00am Sunday December 8, 2024, the Commission had not received any results at the National Collation Centre… Feedback from the field is that the results are trickling into the Regional Collation Centres. The commission will publish the results once they are received,” a statement posted on the EC’s official social media handles explained.
Some people have questioned the seemingly undue delay in declaring the results of the General Elections by the EC even after the concession speech of one of the two dominant parties in the election.
But the EC has maintained that it is following the law to the letter and is keen on protecting the integrity of the process.
