The Minister for Communications and Digitization of the Republic of Ghana, Ursula Owusu, has addressed recent reports suggesting that she sent food to voters in a queue at the Ablekuma West Constituency polling station.
A video surfaced online showing voters at the polling station rejecting and driving away a pick-up truck that was carrying packs of food, leading to speculation that the food was intended for the voters.
However, in an interview with TV3, Ursula Owusu clarified that the food was meant for party agents, not voters.
She explained, “We provide breakfast, lunch, and supper for our party agents. We send food around polling stations to feed our people, but when we reached the Assemblies of God polling station, a different situation unfolded.
Some NDC supporters created the impression that the packs contained something else. I saw online reports falsely suggesting that we sent food to voters in the queue.
We will not tolerate any misinformation from the NDC. The food was strictly for our party agents,” she stated.
