Tinubu approves salary increment, arrears, and pension payments for armed forces


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a salary increase for Nigeria’s armed forces, alongside the payment of three months’ salary arrears, according to a Friday statement by the Ministry of Defence spokesperson, Henshaw Ogubike.

Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, confirmed that military personnel have already started receiving alerts for the three-month salary increment, marking a significant morale boost for the troops.

In addition, Tinubu has released funds to settle outstanding pensions and entitlements owed to retired military personnel.

“Despite initial setbacks, be rest assured that the President will do everything within his power to uplift our military forces as they confront the challenges of insecurity,” Matawalle stated.

He expressed gratitude to the President for his decisive action and reiterated the vital role played by both retired and serving military personnel in ensuring the nation’s security and their significant contributions in combating insurgency.

He assured the officers and personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces of the president’s unwavering resolve to eradicate insecurity in Nigeria, bolstered by the readiness and resilience of the military.
