Vice President of Policy Think Tank, Kofi Bentil, has joined the many Ghanaians who think the National Service Scheme must be cancelled.
He describes the scheme as a cesspit of corruption, which he indicates that he found out when he did his national service in 1988.
In a post shared via social media, he indicated that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s decision to make National Service optional must be backed by all.
“NSS has been a cesspit of corruption!! i saw it when I did national service in 1988!! THIS Is why I SUPPORT CANCELLING IT ALTOGETHER. AT BEST It should be A PLACEMENT SERVICE WHICH PLACES SCHOOL LEAVERS but lets the organizations pay them. Government must never spend money on it,” he said.
His comment comes on the back of an expose that is currently going viral on social media about some financial malfeasance at the office of the National Service Scheme.
However, since there is an injunction on the said story, we would not provide details of the scandal that has hit the organization.
