Politically motivated removal of public servants unconstitution

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has written to the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, on the recent termination of the appointment of Ghanaians.

He has urged the president to withdraw the Chief of Staff’s directive to terminate all appointments after December 7 and recall all affected Ghanaians back to their posts.

To him, recruitment in the public service goes through several processes and sacking these workers after they have gone through all these processes based on their appointment date is unfair.

Afenyo Markin believes that if the government does this, it will reinforce the government’s commitment to principles of good governance, inclusivity, and the rule of law.

The Minority leader in his letter indicated that although the affected persons have the right to seek justice in the court, the president’s intervention will halt what will be a protracted litigation
