Mahama reassigns Edward Bawa as GOIL Group CEO weeks after GNPC appointment

President John Dramani Mahama has made a sudden leadership change by reassigning Edward Bawa from his role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to head GOIL as its Group CEO.

Bawa, who was appointed to lead GNPC on January 16, 2025, following the exit of Joseph Dadzie, will now oversee the operations of GOIL, Ghana’s leading indigenous oil marketing company.

The reason for this abrupt transition has not been officially stated, but sources indicate that the decision takes effect immediately.

Meanwhile, GNPC is now without a CEO, and there has been no announcement regarding who will take over the role.
