CLOGSAG declares nationwide strike over appointment of Samuel Botchway as Births & Deaths registrar

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has declared a nationwide strike action to protest the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as Registrar of Births and Deaths Registry.

The decision to strike follows a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on February 11, 2025, which discussed the appointment of a politically exposed person into the Civil Service and Local Government.

The NEC of CLOGSAG decided that if a politically connected appointee is announced to lead the Registry, they will strike.

Mr Samuel Adom Botchway is said to have taken office on February 12, 2025, hence the decision to strike on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
