FG Reveals One Key Thing Nigerians Need To Access Palliatives, Other Social Services


Nigerians across the country must be in the possession of their National Identity Number (NIN) before they can access social services, the Federal Government has said.

George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) while declaring the Inter-Ministerial retreat on the Nigeria Digital Identification for Development (ID4D) Project open said the poor and vulnerable population would need their NINs to access palliatives and other services.

According to Akume who was represented by Babatunde Bolaji, the identification of every Nigerian is key for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The SGF admonished every ministry, agency and department to ensure they render the needed support to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to establish a viable and inclusive national identity system.

Also speaking at the event, Tanko Sununu, the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction commended the leadership of the NIMC for the feat the commission has since achieved.

Sununu said the ministry would continue to work with the NIMC to ensure that Nigerians are identifies and as well are able to access the social services available for them
