Current NPP MPs are detached from their party’s history—Asiedu Nketia

Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu Nketia, believes that the current crop of Members of Parliament for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is detached from the political party’s history.

According to him, if they are aware of their history, they will not refer to Zenator Rawlings as a Daughter of a Murderer just because her father led a coup in the country.

Asiedu Nketia, who was speaking on Accra-based Radio Gold when he made this known.

“The current crop of MPs in the NPP are detached from their party’s history. If they were aware of their history, they would not call Zenator the daughter of a murderer just because her father plotted a coup and people died as a result.

The first coup in Ghana that led to the death of some Ghanaians was plotted by Kotoka and Afrifa, and these people have leanings to the NPP. So if they say deaths resulting from coups make people murderers, then they are also murderers because their party comes from people who plotted and staged a coup in Ghana,” he explained.

To him, no killing can be associated with the founder of the National Democratic Congress, Jerry John Rawlings.

His comments come on the back of a voice heard in Parliament referring to the daughter of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, Zenator Agyemang Rawlings, as the daughter of a murderer.

There have been calls for an investigation into the matter because the comment is unparliamentary.
