Chadian Terrorist’s Wife, Others Arrested in Kano


The wife of a Chadian terrorist and some of his associates have been arrested by officers of the Nigeria Police in Kano State.

Confirming the arrest, Salma Garba, the Kano State’s commissioner of Police at a press conference said the Chadian terrorist, Ahmad Adam Abba, had escaped from Nigeria and is currently hiding in Cameroon.

He stated that three associates of Abba including another Chadian named Jibrin Mohammed, 42, and a Nigerian were arrested by the Kano police officers.

He said, “The wanted Chadian terrorist escaped from Nigeria and is currently in Cameroon. We have successfully apprehended three of the suspect’s associates, including his wife, another Chadian named Jibrin Mohammed, 42, and a Nigerian.”

According to the commissioner of police, Abba masterminded the killing of 17 people in the Republic of Chad and was also planning to set up a terrorist base in Kano.

“I am pleased to announce that the Command has made significant progress in our efforts to dismantle these networks and neutralise any potential risks. There is no hiding place for criminals in the state. In addition to the aforementioned arrests, we have ramped up our intelligence-gathering efforts across various areas.

“You will recall that on 24th January 2025, the Command released a security alert, calling on the public to exercise caution and report any suspicious persons or items to the authorities following a series of intelligence reports from various agencies about the presence of suspected terrorists in the state.

“Acting on one of the intelligence reports, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered, and discreet investigations are in progress,” the commissioner of Police said.

Garba further noted that the police is working with other security and intelligence agencies to identify suspicious activities of individuals of group of persons who might pose a security risk in the state and country at large.

He said that the police has also intensified its patrol and surveillance measure to nip activities of the terrorists in the bud, especially in hot spots across the state.

“It is vital that we foster trust and cooperation between the Police and the communities we serve, as this partnership is essential in combating crime and preventing any emerging security threats,” he added.
