The Appointments Committee has issued a formal apology to Ghanaians following chaotic scenes during Thursday evening’s vetting session.
The session, meant to vet nominees Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, descended into disorder as Minority and Majority members clashed.
Tensions escalated when the Minority proposed postponing the vetting to Friday, citing concerns over the day’s proceedings.
However, the Majority rejected the request, insisting that the vetting continue as scheduled.
The standoff turned violent as some Minority members disrupted the session, reportedly breaking tables and microphones in protest.
Security was reinforced in the conference room as tensions heightened.
In a statement, the Appointments Committee expressed regret over the incident and assured the public that measures would be taken to prevent future disruptions.
They emphasised their commitment to an orderly and respectful vetting process and urged all members to uphold parliamentary integrity.
