They were disguised as vigilantes, Police confirm abduction of 4 people in Abuja


The Police in Abuja has confirmed the abduction of four people by some gunmen disguised as vigilantes in Chikakore community, a suburb in Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The spokesperson for the FCT Police, Josephine Adeh said seven unknown men armed with machetes and sticks, attacked the residence of the victims on Monday, January 27.

Adeh said the suspects kidnapped Adefija Michael Akinropo, his wife, his son and two others at about 12 midnight.

She explained that Akinropo was deceived by the men into opening his gate after which they abducted him and members of his household.

According to her, one of Akinropo’s neighbours who tried to intervene during the attack sustained some injuries.

She said the neighbour is currently receiving medical treatment at the Kubwa General Hospital.

Adeh also stated that the FCT police command has began a ‘search and rescue’ operation to secure the safe rescue of the abducted victims and apprehend the perpetrators of this criminal act.

She called on all residents of the Chikakore community and the general public to remain calm and vigilant. And endeavour to avail the police with every information that might be useful in its security operations.
