I’m not going back to medicine

The former running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, known popularly as Napo, has indicated that he will not return to the hospital after leaving Parliament.

He says the training as a doctor is a skill he has learned and will keep but will not practice after leaving Parliament.

Napo was speaking to the 1957 news in Parliament when he made this known.

“Life continues; I was somewhere before I came in, and now I’m somewhere after I left,” he said.

On going back to medicine, he said, “No, that life is past. That is a skill I’ve acquired, so I keep it.”

Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh paired with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 election that saw the NPP lose to the NDC led by John Dramani Mahama.

It is unclear if the NPP will field the pair for the 2028 elections because the political party hopes to bounce back very soon.
