Soludo Unveils News Security Outfit, Offers N5m for Information on Kidnappers


The governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo on Saturday, January 18, unveiled special security operations code named “Udo Ga-Achị” and “Agunechemba”.

Soludo also passed the Anambra Homeland Security Law at a ceremony which took place at the International Convention Centre, in Awka.

Stating that security, law and order is key in the attainment of expected growth and development in the state, Soludo said his administration is committed to tackle the insecurity ravaging the state.

Further stating that he has created a reward system for anyone with information on that would help in the arrest of kidnappers, the governor said criminals now engage in “lucrative criminality” in the guise of agitations and liberation.

He also stated that the people of Anambra must join hands to ensure that the insecurity in the state in nipped in the bud.

“The character and dynamics of criminality in the South-East and Nigeria have evolved and become hydra-headed, and so our response must be thoughtful, deliberate and comprehensive, involving both the kinetic and non-kinetic agenda,” the governor said.g in lucrative criminality in the name of agitations and liberation struggle.

“The NBS reported that about N2.2 trillion was paid as ransom in 2024. We estimate that for every one Naira reported, there are probably about 5-6 Naira not reported (amounting to more than N10 trillion in ransom payments in 2024.
