President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a bilateral meeting with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, at the Abu Dhabi Emirates Palace on Wednesday night.
The meeting was attended by key members of the Nigerian government, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Finance Olawale Edun, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
This meeting comes as President Tinubu participates in the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025), which kicked off on January 12 and runs until January 18. The event brings together global leaders to accelerate sustainable development and advance socio-economic progress.
In his address to world leaders earlier on Wednesday, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of tackling climate change, not just as an environmental necessity, but also as a global economic opportunity. “The fight against climate change is not merely an environmental necessity but a global economic opportunity to reshape the trajectory of our continent and the global energy landscape,” he said.
President Tinubu stressed the need for innovation, collaboration, and decisive action as a global community. “As leaders, stakeholders, and citizens of our planet, we stand at a critical juncture in human history. To succeed, we must innovate, collaborate, and act decisively as one global community,” he added.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria on Thursday.
