The Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina J. Mohammed, visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja as part of her official two-day visit to Nigeria.

Amina Mohammed and President Tinubu had previously met during the inauguration of Ghana’s former president, John Dramani Mahama, on Tuesday.

Earlier this week, the United Nations Information Centre announced her visit. Oluseyi Soremekun, the National Information Officer, stated that the Deputy Secretary-General’s schedule would include meetings with top Nigerian officials and leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

“While in Nigeria, she will have a series of meetings, including with H.E. President Bola Tinubu, senior Government officials as well as the senior leadership of the Economic Community of West African States.

“They will be addressing pressing issues of regional stability and development.  Ms Mohammed will also meet with the UN country team in Nigeria,” the statement said.
