Koku Anyidoho, President of the Atta Mills Institute and former Deputy General-Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed a reflective and composed reaction to the damage inflicted on the statue of the late President John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills at Asomdwe Park.
In a post shared on social media platform X, Anyidoho revealed his emotional response to the act of vandalism while invoking faith and hope for the nation.
Accompanying images of the damaged statue, Anyidoho wrote, “This just happened @ Asomdwe Park. My Bible tells me that ‘In All Things’ (not in some things), I should give thanks to God. I am also singing 🎵 ‘It is well with my soul.’ To God be All the glory and my prayer is for God to continue blessing my beloved Homeland Ghana.”
The incident at Asomdwe Park, a site that holds historical and emotional significance as the burial place of the late President Mills, has sparked conversations about the respect accorded to national monuments and the memories of Ghana’s past leaders.
The park, named after Mills’ legacy of peace and unity, has often been a point of focus for both reflection and controversy.
