The Nigerian Senate has announced the tentative date for the passage of the 2025 appropriation bill.
Solomon Adeola, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations said the budget presented to the joint Assembly by President Bola Tinubu would be passed on January 31.
Adeola made the disclosure during a meeting with all the chairmen of the Senate standing committees.
Recall the the president had on December 18, presented a N49.7 trillion before lawmakers of the National Assembly.
While the bill has passed its second reading, Adeola said the budget defence by various ministries, parastatals and agencies would commence on Tuesday, December 7.
He also stated that the reports from the budget defence by various committees would be submitted between January 15 and 18.
Areola said, “Afterwards, collation and tidying up of the various reports will be done by the appropriations committee with the hope of laying final report on the budget to the Senate on 31st of this month.
“However, the 31st of January fixed for laying of the budget is tentative as it is just given to guide our working,” he stated.
