Rt Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin has been elected as the Speaker of the 9th Parliament of Ghana.
The motion to make him the speaker was mooted by the Majority Leader of Parliament, Cassiel Ato Forson, PhD.
The motion was seconded by the minority leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin, who expressed reservation about the president-elect’s decision to mandate the leadership of his party in Parliament to nominate Alban Bagbin.
This was proceeded with a vote from the house, which agreed in unison that Alban Bagbin should be made Speaker.
This was followed by the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office, which were administered by the Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
