The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied contacting Kwame Asare Obeng known popularly as A Plus to caucus with them in Parliament.
A Plus in a post shared via social media indicated that a delegation from the New Patriotic Party led by Kennedy Agyapong had reached out to him to caucus with them in Parliament.
He indicated that as part of the deal, the party promised not to field a candidate for the 2028 election.
However, he is yet to meet the NDC side of the house to also listen to their offer for him before any decision is taken.
“The NPP, led by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, has officially approached me to discuss aligning with them in Parliament. Their proposal includes several intriguing agreements, such as a commitment that they will not contest the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 election.
The NDC, with whom I genuinely wish to align, has also invited me for a meeting tomorrow at 8 a.m. While I have friends in both the NDC and NPP, they have to understand that I will have to disappoint someone tomorrow. Let me make this simple and clear: deep down, my heart leans toward the NDC, but I will ultimately side with whoever has my interest at heart and provides the best offer for me and the people of Gomoa Central,” A Plus said in a post shared via social media.
But the General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a statement shared via social media, denied contacting A Plus.
He further indicated that the party has not also assigned anyone to contact A Plus on its behalf.
The New Patriotic Party is in the minority in Parliament with 88 seats against the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which has 183 seats, and 4 independent candidates with Ablekuma North outstanding.
