Incoming Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, has called for an investigation into the cause of the Kantamanta Fire.
On January 2, 2025, around 1 am, parts of the Kantamanto market in Accra were razed down by fire.
Regardless of efforts by the Ghana Fire Service to contain the fire and prevent a spread, their efforts proved futile as the fire spread to destroy several properties worth millions of cedis.
After the fire, there have been conspiracy theories about the cause of the fire.
But speaking to the traders whose wares have been destroyed by the fire, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang indicated that the conspiracy theories must end.
She called on the Ghana Fire Service to provide a comprehensive report after their investigation to help ascertain the real cause of the fire.
“The rumours will not suffice in this case. What we need is an investigation into the matter and that must be done as soon as possible,” she said.
