I’m happy for Shatta Wale, it’s a dream we started

Bulldog, Shatta Wale’s former manager, has shared his thoughts on Shatta Wale’s remarkable performance at Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street concert in Kingston, Jamaica.

Despite their past clashes, Bulldog expressed pride in Shatta’s achievement, particularly given the shared history and the vision they had for Kartel’s potential impact in Ghana.

“We were going to bring Vybz Kartel to Ghana. We had already paid for the dome, arranged everything, and had the figures to pay him.

“Then, he got arrested on Friday,” Bulldog recalled, reflecting on the plans that never came to fruition due to Kartel’s legal issues.

However, Bulldog is quick to point out that seeing Shatta Wale take the stage at such a monumental event is a full-circle moment.

“I’m happy for Shatta. Why not? It has always been part of his dream. Shatta has always admired Vybz Kartel.

“We saw the vision back then and understood where the inspiration was coming from. Now that it’s happening, we’re proud. Whether we’re with him or not, it’s a dream we started, and we’re glad to see it realised,” he said on Joy Prime on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

Shatta Wale’s performance at Kartel’s Freedom Street concert, held at the National Stadium in Kingston, was a historic one.

The concert marked Vybz Kartel’s first live performance since his release from prison, and the event featured some of the biggest names in dancehall, including Popcaan, Spice, and Busta Rhymes.

Despite their differences, Bulldog’s pride in Shatta’s success is evident. “Nobody should criticize him; he did what he had to do. It’s historic,” he said.
