President-elect John Dramani Mahama has taken a significant step toward ensuring national security during his transition by appointing an interim National Security Coordinating Team.
Tasked with managing security affairs until substantive appointments are made, the six-member team is led by Prosper Douglas Bani, a former Minister for the Interior.
“The safety and stability of our nation cannot be left to chance during this crucial period,” Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a special aide to Mahama, explained.
“This team represents the best minds in national security, with a wealth of experience to guide Ghana seamlessly into the new administration.”
The team’s mandate officially begins on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Alongside Bani, it comprises notable figures such as Lt. General Peter Augustine Blay (Rtd.), a former Chief of Defence Staff; Kofi Totobi Quakyi, a former Minister for National Security; Larry Gbevlo-Lartey Esq., a former National Security Coordinator; Brigadier General Fuseini Iddrissu (Rtd.); and COP Nathaniel Kofi Boakye (Rtd.).
Their expertise spans decades of service in various high-level security roles, ensuring a steady hand at the helm during the transition.
