Asamoah Gyan took to Instagram Live on Thursday, January 2, 2025, to share reflections on his life, career, and unique personality traits.
The former Black Stars captain and one of Ghana’s most celebrated football icons drew an intriguing comparison between himself and controversial dancehall artist Shatta Wale, emphasizing their shared resilience and unapologetic authenticity.
“That is how Shatta Wale is,” Gyan explained with conviction. “When Shatta Wale sees Reggie Rockstone and other legends, he will bow down. It doesn’t mean he is stupid.
But when those legends step on his toes, he will insult them to remind them of their place.”
His words painted a picture of Shatta Wale as someone who balances respect with self-assertion, a quality Gyan sees mirrored in his own life.
Reflecting on his journey, Gyan described himself as someone who has always stood out, even from an early age.
“From my infancy, I’ve always been favoured and chosen for opportunities. You can ask around. It’s a gift that no one can take away from me,” he said, his tone a mix of pride and wonder.
“Out of thousands and millions, I’m often the chosen one. That’s how Shatta Wale is. Sometimes, I get shocked by these personal traits.”
